Booking a Hotel Online

The main factor you are going to want to focus on when looking at hotels online is the location. If you are planning a business trip then you want to ensure you are located close to where you are attending meetings, but if you are going on a holiday, then you want to ensure you are close to the public transport services so that you can explore with ease and confidence.

The next thing you are going to want to take note of when looking at any hotels online is the star rating. All hotels get a star rating, which determines the level of accommodation, service and facilities you can expect. A good example is that there is a big difference between a three star and a five star hotel, over and above the price. A five star will offer you twenty four hour room service, a twenty four hour reception desk and they have a swimming pool, while the three star will offer you good and comfortable accommodation and breakfast.

Before you get excited and book into a hotel you know you can afford which is in the right location, take a few minutes to read through their online reviews and see what past and current guests have to say. Reading through the reviews can help you identify if the hotel does offer you the services that they promise and that their description meets what clients have experienced. It can give you much needed peace of mind and make it easier for you to make your booking with confidence and ease.

Further, you are going to want to look at transport options. Can the hotel assist you with an airport shuttle or do you need to travel with public transport. Either way you want to ensure the hotel is within easy access so that you can get from the airport to your accommodation without too much fuss.

Consider the type of accommodation provided by the hotel. Do they give you a choice of rooms that you can select from? Do they have guest rooms and suites? Do the rooms come with modern conveniences such as televisions, coffee making facilities and en-suite bathrooms? What about Wi-Fi, can they provide this service to the rooms? These are important factors you will want to look at to ensure the hotel meets your exact specifications now and on the day of arrival to reduce the risk of disappointment.

The final factors to consider before booking is to identify the facilities and services provided by the hotel. Not all hotels offer the same facilities and services so this is an important step to ensure you are going to get the services and the experiences you want to achieve when staying in the hotel.

Facilities may include an on-site restaurant, an on-site wellness centre and a concierge service. While the services may include everything from daily housekeeping to twenty four hour room service and free Wi-Fi. They may also be able to provide you with assistance on tours, car hire and more to make your stay memorable and enjoyable.

City Breaks

Cities are brimming with exciting attractions that you can explore and enjoy. Think of some of the sightseeing experiences available. There are walking tours, boat tours and most cities these days have a giant Ferris wheel that will take you high into the sky giving you a birds eye view of the city and as far as your eyes can see, such as the London Eye, which caters to thousands of visitors each month showing them the River Thames, the city and so much more with recorded guide.

A city will have fantastic restaurants to choose from and you aren’t limited to one type of cuisine. You will find that you can get all types of foods and a range of restaurants from relaxed family restaurants to fine dining establishments. This ensures you get to taste an array of foods from different restaurants during your stay. Try something different, be a bit daring with your food choices and have some fun with it.

Of course, when you go to any city you are not spoiled for choice when it comes to hotels. You will find everything from three star bed and breakfasts to four star guest houses to five star luxury hotels where you can choose from a host of rooms, you can order twenty four hour room service and you can take advantage of their on-site wellness centre or gym during your stay.

City breaks are more affordable than you may think. When you head to the snow capped peaks to go skiing or you head to a seaside location to enjoy some fun in the sun, you will find it just as expensive if not more, especially when in season. Ski resorts are going to be considerably more expensive during winter, while seaside resorts will push up their prices during the summer months. City hotels tend to offer the same rates with a choice of packages you can choose from to work within your budget.

The final advantage to a city break is that you get variety. You can easily visit as a family and chow that the entire family will be able to do things that they enjoy.

About Homestays Over Hostels

Pickpockets may be a concern abroad, but chances are your money won’t be stolen out of your back pocket. It will be snatched from overpriced restaurants, attractions, and accommodations. Nearly everything you come into a purchasing contact with has the possibility (and probability) or costing you more than it should. Some friends and I stopped at what appeared to be a small hotel to use the restroom, and we were diverted to the bar. We purchased soft drinks for the right to relieve ourselves and could not believe the tab when we emerged. Three cokes, 27EUR.

A 9EUR Coca-Cola may be steep, but in relation to most of the hostel prices we encountered, it was nothing. Hostels have always been the stepsister of hotels; providing younger travelers with cheaper bare bones accommodations. Yet everywhere we traveled, the tale of the discount hostel seemed to be a myth. In Venice, we made our reservations months in advance…and still paid 80EUR a night. Not exactly budget-friendly. Cheap hostels may be out there, but they certainly require much more digging than one would think.

That’s where homestays come in. Just as hostels have presented an alternative to expensive hotel travel, homestays are the alternative to hostels. Ideal for students, homestays are hosts who exchange free or reduced price stay for work. This could be a couple hours teaching a language, watching children, or even working on a farm. Homestay exchanges are also an option, in which two people swap residences with one another. Yet as a student, I doubt anyone from another country would be interested in dormitory life.

Homestays are ideal for locations that may be difficult to arrange trips to, such as more rural areas of Asia, South America, or Australia/New Zealand. Not only is the cultural experience be heightened as opposed to urban hostels and run-of-the-mill travel attractions, it’s a fraction of the overall price. Food and lodging combined were by far the biggest expense of my trip this summer, and if I could have eliminated both, all that’s really left is flight. And alcohol.

Homestays Over Hotels

Homestay is basically a form of lodging where travelers get to live in a person’s home living in the locality to which you are traveling to. They may be free of costs at times or they may be something like a home exchange which has close meaning to student exchanges.

Nowadays living in a hotel is what everyone does. But, does it give you the satisfaction of really going to the place and enjoying it to the fullest? Not really. That is why now people are shifting attention to other options like Homestays.

They give you the comfort of home in a tourist spot.

– You get to have the experience of the local lifestyle.

– What better place to enjoy the local cuisine than at the place of a person living in that area for years.

– It gives you a taste of local culture.

– They save on costs of hotels at times.

– You get to make connections with the local people of different class/ culture within that one stay.

– Staying in a friendly and family kind of environment

Even though the Estate stays are cheaper and gives you a home type of feeling, last minute cancellations on the host part or some other minor problems may be troublesome and difficult to handle during your tour.

While searching for homestays the main aim should not be just finding an accommodation to live in but it should be more of an experience which you get when you stay at a local person’s home. It is an experience worth having in your lifetime. You get to know people, their lifestyle as mentioned above, but above all you get to know the type of people who live in that area. If the place is surrounded by trees, is situated near a forest or is close to places where natural beauty can be seen in the locality then all this makes your stay more magical and amazing.

Tourists always find it difficult to firstly find an accommodation and then find the places to visit in the locality once they do that. Then they end up spending money on guides, maps and whatnot. But if you find an accommodation at a Homestay, then you can have the first hand experience of travelling to local tourist spots from your host. Your host can tell you all about the best place to eat, to shop, to see etc.
